AVERAGE IMO PERSON TO PAY N2,400 AS TAX

The Imo State government has informed it determination to ensure that every adult living in the state pays his or her taxes promptly. 
At press briefing in Owerri, the capital of the state, the commissioner for Internally Generated Revenues, IGR, and Pension matters, Dr Orikaeze Vitalis Ajumbe, disclosed that every average person living in the state must pay a minimum of N2,400 as taxes. 

The commissioner said that tax collections by the state government would be determined by the the kind of business and income one does and earns, but the minimum each person would be asked to pay is N2,400. 
Dr Ajumbe asserted that his ministry is working with all traditional rulers in the state towards making sure that everyone will pay it taxes. According to him, the monarchs would help the government to identify each taxable person in the state. 

He explained that the massive revenue drive by the state government was important following the current economic realities in the country. 
The Politician stressed that with the constant dwindling price of the crude oil in the international market, the state government has decided to look inwards and increase the IGR of the state so as to pay salaries and develop the state. 
Dr Ajumbe was optimistic that the eastern heart-land State can survive without the crude oil, saying that there are great countries of the world who do not have crude oil, yet they are doing greatly. 

The commissioner beckoned on every resident of the state to pay his taxes, so that the government will deliver on it campaign manifestos.
