Reward For Quality Legislative Representation
The Courtesy and Familiarisation visit of the Member representing Owerri Federal Constituency, Hon Sir Tochukwu Chinedu Okere paid to major federal institutions and Agencies domiciled in the three LGAs of Owerri Federal Constituency has started yielding tremendous positive impact.
Last week, Hon Tochukwu Okere paid a courtesy visit to Federal University of Technology Owerri, FUTO, where he got his first degree in Project Management Technology, making second upper division in 1999.
The joy of the visit to the university and his astounding achievements within few months after his inauguration was greatly expressed by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Nnenna Oti.
As his visit marked the first time a legislator, representing the Constituency interfaced with the management of the University to register his overseeing capacity, the University Governing Council felt the inevitable need to respond to the proposal made by the Vice Chancellor on IMPROVED FUTO-HOST COMMUNITIES RELATION in the following areas:
- A) Host Communities Scholarship Scheme: Annual Allocation of N10,000,000 (Ten million) to Ten Host communities.
Beneficiaries: one hundred (100) students in the tertiary institutions at one hundred thousand (one hundred thousand naira per student)
- B) POVERTY ALLEVIATION SCHEME:
Annual Allocation of Ten million naira to Ten Host communities.
BENEFICIARIES: one hundred (100) poor women and youth at hundred thousand (N100,000) per person.
C)COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECT:

BENEFICIARIES: Host Communities are to decide on the project of choice.
It was also gathered that the modality for the implementation of the above shall be articulated and communicated soon.
Again, there are high expectation that the robust discussion between the management of FUTO and the Honourable member, representing Owerri Federal constituency, Hon Sir Tochukwu Okere had on Private Partnership Projects will soon yield humongous results in the area of infrastructure in the school.
The Host communities of the Federal University of Technology Owerri, FUTO, include the following: Eziobodo, Emeabiam, Avu, Nekede, Ihiagwa Ancient, Okolochi, Obinze, Ezeokete, Dindi Ihiagwa, Umuanunu and Obibiezena.
