NIGERIANS IN THE UK HOLD A ‘GRAND FINALE RALLY’ FOR PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN AND OTHER PDP CANDIDATES

Once again the electoral fortune of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan got a boost as Nigerians in the United Kingdom turn-out en masse at the Park View West Green Learning Centre in Tottenham, North London for a ‘Grand finale Rally’ in support of his re-election as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The rally was organised by NigeriaServe and could well be termed a gathering of Authentic and Committed Supporters of the President and the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) candidates.

In her keynote speech, the leader of the group, Mrs Joy Ukaegbu appealed Nigerians in the Diaspora to call their families and friends back home to vote for President Jonathan and all the PDP candidates so that the Government’s Transformation Programmes can go on effectively and unimpeded.

She said APC stands for backwardness but PDP and President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan stand for Forward-Ever and the future of Nigeria. ‘March 28, 2015 election presents to all of us an outstanding opportunity to usher in and create a Nigeria we all desire and want to live in. So let us renew President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s mandate so that he can finish the good work he started. She also called on Imo State electorates to vote massively for the PDP Governorship candidate, Sir Emeka Ihedioha, the Senatorial Candidates-Chief Athan Achonu, Hon. Samuel (Samdaddy) Anyanwu and Senator Hope Uzodimma and all the other candidates.

Another member of the Nigeriaserve Mr Ken Ibe in his speech, reeled out the achievements of President Jonathan. He concluded by saying that the President Jonathan has within a short period in office performed better than any other Nigerian leader dead or alive.

One of the guest speakers Mazi Emmanuel Ahanonu thanked the organisers of the rally for a job well done. He hammered home on why it is important to re-elect President Goodluck Jonathan. Hear him ‘Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan government’s programmes are focused, and a continuation of these programmes will invariably be to the benefit of not only those in Nigeria, but those of us in Diaspora. The government’s programmes are policy based; same is applicable in the Western world. If one is looking for sustainability, then obviously that is the way to go. These policies are transformational indeed. With good governance, certain basic provisions will be taken for granted, such as good roads, water, health, energy and education and other infrastructural needs. Support for agriculture and industrial development would also be presumed. Irrespective of our political inclination, it is our duty to encourage our families at home, not to sell their vote, but to vote their conscience, knowing fully well that their vote is their power’.

Some of the people who attended the rally were: Chief Shed Ekwegh, Nze Sam Asoluka, Sir Jude Ibe, Sir Felix Nwakamma, Sir Paulinus Ihenakaram, Mr Emmanuel Korie, Mr Leonard Ejiofor, Sir Bartho Umeyor Mr. Charles Utams, Lady Ngozi Ahanonu, Mr Japhtha Opara, Onyekachi Ugoh, Ernest Ndulor, Mrs Rita Agbasonu, Dr Cyril Anyanwu and many others.
