IF I WERE PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU.

By Willie Amadi

God spoke on Monday, 3rd November 2025 through the President of the United States of America, POTUS. President Donald Trump delivered a message of renewed hope to the Sahel region with Nigeria as a point of contact. The designation of Nigeria as a “COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR INTERESTS” and “overshamed country” was not rhetorics but a wakeup call. It is absolutely important as a matter of necessity for our President to see this admonition as a low hanging fruit and run with the ball with diplomatic humility and tact. He should forget all these vituperations from some lizards in Nigeria casting aspersions on President Trump as if they have capacity to withstand America if and when PROTUS activates the US military. China and ECOWAS has been reported to back Nigeria in the ongoing diplomatic milieu. Of what use has China been to Nigeria except pretending and entrapping Nigeria into a diplomatic face off with America for selfish political interest.

POTUS message is a direct, as well as a final blow to our man-made insurgency and sustained spilling of the blood of innocent citizens, more particularly the Christians. The unprovoked attacks and genocide against the Christian communities in Northern Nigeria became intensified during the administration of late Mohammadu Buhari without any visible restraint by the government, almost looked like tacit condonation by his government speculated to have allowed non-Nigerians from the Sahel region fir both his election and Islamic agenda.

The insecurity witnessed in Nigeria has virtually paralyzed every aspect of the national growth whilst gulping billions of dollars which would have been channelled to the development of critical infrastructures and other meaningful projects abandoned which has been abandoned for years. Nigeria spends approximately 35 percent of her annual budget on avoidable insecurity. The religious and ethnic cleansing blame game by previous administrations has become so lame that a new twist and claims of insecurity sponsorship by government agencies and non-State actors for named and unnamed reasons, appears to be the only remedy till date.

As at today, the country is at war with itself and the escalation has no foreseeable end. Everybody including the poor, the middle class and the rich are at mercy of terrorists, bandits, militias, kidnappers, unknown gun men and whatever nomenclature given to them. These named groups surprisingly are in possession of more sophisticated arms and weapons than we have in the national armoury. These groups have formed an alternative government in most local governments of northern Nigeria as we speak. The have boldly intimidated and weakened the national security architecture with so much impetus and courage that our military have been forced into defensive rather than offensive. It is a tragedy which has given the Tinubu administration, and Nigerian citizens sleepless nights.

However, when all hopes seem to have been lost, God intervened.

The proclamation of President Trump that the United States of America has declared and designated Nigeria as a “COUNTRY OF SPECIAL INTERESTS” is divine, reassuring and protective irrespective of the interpretations given by the political, ethnic and religious interests groups. Head or tail, it is, what it is. Nigeria has been psychologically rescued and their hope renewed. Nigerians will be patiently waiting for their President to take advantage of this rare opportunity and engage with the government and people of the United States of America for a permanent and lasting solution to this security tragedy of a nation. Nothing ever happens in Nigeria that the United States doesn’t know before it happens deploying their cutting-edge security, internet and human surveillance. Some naive Nigerians who claim that there are no insecurity and genocide against the Christians are laughing stock to the Americans.

Nigeria as a rich and blessed country but fraudulently mismanaged over the years has become a blotted and toothless African giant in the comity of nations. A country with vast potential of human, material and natural resources combined, more than any other country in the world is still a “developing” country 65 years after independence in 1960. Shamefully, at 65 years, Nigeria cannot even manufacture a single bullet, not to talk of a gun or bomb. So how will Nigeria win this war against increasing insurgency if America doesn’t mercifully come to our rescue going forward. It is both idiotic and painful that most political jobbers and religious bigots are mischievously prompting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resist or confront the United States in their honest desire to rescue our country from this impending calamity as if they have any visible capacity to stop America under President Trump from carrying out their veiled advisory threats. America is a dynamic super World power and unarguably the policeman of the world. With their military and intelligence might and strength, they enter into countries in times of emergency and threats to national and international peace and security, and discipline and tranquilize security situations without such permissions and Nigeria not is an exception and can never be. The clinical and military despatch with which American soldiers rescued their citizens held hostage in Boko Haram terrorists camp in the northern Nigeria few years ago without any knowledge by the military authorities and also the recent bombardment of Iran without a pre knowledge a few months ago is quite instructive. Therefore, all these vituperations from uninformed Nigerians absolutely goes to nothing. It is like a weak and malnourished local dog barking at an intruder with an AK-49 riffle.

Nigeria must see America’s genuine intervention as divine providence. Any Nigerian or group of Nigerians advocating against this timely collaboration with the American government to bring us out the pit of a hell, are the real beneficiaries of this insecurity tragedy Nigeria has been enmeshed in, with so much death, pain and anguish. As a matter of fact, and proactive reasoning, Nigeria should collaborate with the United States and propose to America for the establishment of a military base in Nigeria to permanently stem and extinguish insecurity and sponsored insurgency in Nigeria. It is important to state that Sovereignty of a nation is only available and recognized when that country upholds her constitutional cardinal provisions in the protection of life and property of her citizens. Any country which is conquered by non-state actors is at best a geographical entity and requires rescue of any guise from America or any ally and must also be humble and grateful enough to accept the offer without let or hindrance.

I therefore call on the luckiest elected President of Nigeria, Asiwaju, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to wear his usual proactive and strategic thinking cap and make history for Nigerians, Nigerians yet unborn and for himself. It is also my sincere wish that this intervention, if well managed, produces the icing on the cake of PBAT administration’s renewed hope agenda for Nigerians.
