Nigerians in the Diaspora booed Governor Rochas Okorocha and the speaker of Imo state House of Assembly Mr Benjamin Uwajumogu as they arrived Chatham House in London to support their Party’s (APC) Presidential Candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari who came to the venue to deliver a paper Titled ‘Prospect for Democratic Consolidation in Africa: Nigeria’s Transition’.
As the protesters sighted Governor Rochas Okorocha and Ben Uwajumogu alight from a taxi at the venue, they started booing and chanting Rochas Okorocha go home; Okorocha where is Imo state’s N175.034 billion allocation; liar; Rochas corruption; Rochas the widows basher go home, Ka opuo.
Looking bemused, Governor Okorocha who came late to the event was protected and led into Chatham House by the police. After the event, they left the venue through the back door with the other members of the APC to avoid the Press and the protesters
Asked why they were booing Governor Okorocha, one of the protesters Mr kelechi Onumaegbu from Imo State who now lives in London said; ‘these men (Okorocha and Uwajumogu) have no business to do here today. Owerri is where they were supposed to be and not in London. They pay lip service to, and shamelessly shout about corruption every day and look at them here ‘burning’ our money and foolishly supporting an old, unapologetic and unrepentant dictator, Muhammadu Buhari who sent his military boys to Imo State in 1984 to destroy and overturn all the good work Chief Sam Mbakwe did in the State before they (military) forcefully took-over power’.
