Real Imo Rescue Requires Fresh Ideas

-By Vivian Jonathan Iwuoha

Imo is bracing up to a war against “business as usual.” We are being hopeful of a REAL RESCUE MISSION come 2015, that means a political platform is born which will propagate the idea of doing and looking at things in a different way – a new orientation geared towards critical thinking!

IMO has been mortgaged and enslaved through the years. Crooked minds have had field day cashing in on the peoples’ vulnerability. The Imo conscience has always been in auction for the highest bidder; the Imo consciousness has always been manipulated; alas, things will come to a head in the impending wave of transformation that will sweep over the political climate and governance pattern and style in the State.

At this juncture, one anticipates that the critical mass of well motivated Imo citizens, as well as the political stakeholders, will engage in sober reflections, deserving serious self-inquiry, to ask: What does an average Imo youth or adult really want? What has been wrong? Where is the missing link between what we want, what is right and our approach? It is foolhardy to be fooled once, but foolish to tolerate being fooled repeatedly. Will the cream of sound and educated mass of minds in Imo remain in perceptual supplication to deceptive and intelligent manipulators?

Most disconcerting is woeful experiment ever recorded in the history of leadership in Africa nicknamed “Owelle” – ironically a synonym for ruble rouser! For real, Rochas Okorocha is a very “intelligent” man, I mean, when scored on native intelligence; and for real he applies his intellect optimally to sway the majority of Imolites, most of whom seem not to have a mind of their own. Unfortunately, we witness a people who do not seem to understand the consequences of their carefree attitude on a collective fate. This is worrisome, considering that Imo is blessed with intelligent youths; our higher institutions let free thousands of graduates yearly, more than any State of the Federation. Imo prides of a crop of indigents in academy and among the intelligentsia across the nation and beyond.

Where lies the problem if not the culture of greed? Is it the worship of half-baked personalities with money but a wishy washy image? This time Imo will either raise hand in despair to be rescued, or sink to the abyss. It is ripe for the mass of disillusioned average Imo person to realize that his or her problem is not money; the solution also will not come forth through money; falling prey to those who have acquired money, who flaunt it and mock Imo people by throwing money to their faces is the most disservice Imo people have been doing to themselves and to generations unborn. this has been the sins of the fathers, the youths of Imo will not have this sin begotten unto them.
The real problem of Imo people is truly encountering and identifying that person who can find a creative solution to problems, who has the wherewithals to genuinely conceive and implement effective poverty alleviation strategies, give the youths a sense of belonging and invest in areas that elevate welfare; empower youths and women to develop along individual capacities and live a better life. There is poverty in the land amidst plenty! The rural women strive beyond human limits to keep their individual families; the enterprising artisans don’t have value for their endeavors; the young graduates and unemployed yearn for opportunities that keep eluding them. Successive governments have shown no interest in investing on areas that touch directly on the lives and needs of the people. Who will salvage IMO and free the people from this bondage?
This is the secret of Senator Chris Anyanwu’s successful match as the only recognizable hopeful as Imo executive governor in 2015. That will herald the desired change. And the people acknowledge “Yes, she can,” they chorus “together we can.” This is an indication that IMO people are poised for change in the self, to usher in a total outer change as envisioned by this great figure of IMO.

The good tiding is that Senator Anyanwu has virgin ideas; a projected, calculated, practical plan of individual sustenance for almost every Imo citizen. It only takes a genuine vision by a strong character, isn’t it?
Logic is, if the macho men have failed woefully the umpteenth time, it is time to try harvest the compassionate qualities of a woman, the time is ripe for Imo people to bury ego and bring the weight of reason to bear on need. There is nothing “female” about being a successful governor, or manager of human and material resources. Senator Chris Anyanwu will bring goodwill to Imo; she is recognized in national and international circles – in business, politics, leadership, profession and academy – as an authority and force with honor and worth.

By the way, If powerful female political giants, in smaller nations, like Aminata Troure, Louisa Diogo and Joyce Banda of Senegal, Mozambique and Malawi, respectively, can positively transform the fate of their countries, our own powerful giant, who is well bred, schooled, and experienced in the enterprise of governance at State and Federal levels, Senator Chris N.D Anyanwu, will do much better.

Yes, she can; and together, we can save our IMO!.
