#ENDSARS: NIGERIANS IN DIASPORA PROTEST IN LONDON AGAINST THE KILLING OF INNOCENT YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN BY THE SECURITY FORCES IN NIGERIA

A large number of Nigerians in the UK today protested in London to demand good governance and justice for the innocent and unarmed young men and women who were killed by the Nigerian security forces at a protest vigil in Lekki Nigeria.

The protesters marched from the Nigeria High Commission in Northumberland Road to Downing Street where they presented a letter to the UK Government. Thereafter, they marched to the British Broadcasting Corporation also in London.

Before the protest march today, one Silas Ojo had earlier created a Petition in which he wants the UK Government to impose sanctions on members of the Nigerian Government and police force involved in any human rights abuses in Nigeria.

The Petitioner wants the Government use the new sanctions regime that allows individuals and entities that violate human rights around the world to be targeted.

The petition which requires 100,000 signatures has garnered over 210,000 signatures.

And in the UK, ‘Parliament considers all petitions that get more than 100,000 signatures for a debate’ and the ‘Government responds to all petitions that get more than 10,000 signatures’.

The protest was attended by many prominent Nigerians, old and young living in the United Kingdom.
