‘ALDI ROADSHOW’ IN LONDON SETS ALHAJI ATIKU ABUBAKAR’S PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN APART

Members of Atiku Leadership Development Initiative (ALDI) last weekend took Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s Presidential campaign to a high point in London in a Roadshow, the first of its kind in the UK by any Nigerian Presidential Candidate.

The Roadshow which began at the Nigerian High Commission with the afro-beat music ‘ATIKULATION’ blaring from an open bus, drove through Trafalgar Square, Downing Street, the House of Commons, Elephant & Castle, Peckham and to a superb venue in Old Kent Road where the Leaders of ALDI addressed a Press Conference.

At Downing Street, the seat of the UK Government, the Director General of Atiku Leadership Development Initiative (ALDI), Hon. Okechukwu Dominic Nwuzo, the Diaspora Director, Dr. Wilson Diriwari and other members of ALDI delivered a letter to the Prime Minister, Theresa May. The letter was received by a Senior Police officer on duty who promised to deliver the letter to the Prime Minister.

In the letter, ALDI urged the UK Government to press on the Muhammadu Buhari led government in Nigeria to conduct credible, fair and violent-free elections starting from the 16, February 2019.

Asked why the Roadshow in London and not in Nigeria especially in the hinterland where people need to hear more about Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP). The DG, Hon Okey Nwuzo said ‘ALDI started with what we called ‘ALDI in the streets for Atiku’ – a grassroots programme and we went around the North East, South East and the South West, and other places in Nigeria with cameramen to hear from ordinary people on the streets. And, the majority of the people we interviewed said Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is the right person for the job and that it will be difficult for him not to win the election in 2019’.

Why the Roadshow in the UK, he said; when the UK coughs Nigeria catches a cold and everything that happens here, we all know. Even my friend in the US just sent me a text now that what we are doing in the UK has gone viral. Again, people cherish so many things that come from the Diaspora.

We chose London because it’s a Special Place and it’s where we have the Diaspora Director, Dr. Wilson Diriwari. Although, we wanted His Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to join us, because of time constraint we were unable to do so. However, he knows we are here today.

When asked why he is supporting Atiku Abubakar instead of the incumbent, Muhammadu Buhari? He said Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Muhammadu Buhari are two different people. There is a big disparity between night and day. As far as we are concerned, we will pitch our tent anytime, any day with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar because he succeeded both in the Public and Private sectors of the economy. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is a unifying factor and the person who headed one of the best economic team in Nigeria.

Atiku is a man who cares for all, he understands the economy, the importance of education and he’s not a joker. He proffers solutions to problems and whatever he touches, turns to gold. My appeal to Nigerians is, as you go out to vote on February 16, 2019, please make sure you vote for the PDP, make sure you vote for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Mr. Peter Obi. These are leaders who have been tried, tested and their achievements can be easily verified.

He said Leadership Experts from different parts of the world will be invited to speak to our people on Leadership Issues.
