Following the nationwide protest, Distinguished Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu (SamDaddy) has appealed to the five state Governors in the South East geo-political region to expedite action towards re-engaging all youth bodies in the zone into relevant ventures as part of measure to cushion the effect of their sufferings.
Senator Anyanwu while describing youths as the backbone of every developed society, further revealed that the re-engagement in collaboration with the Civil Society organizations, religious and traditional institutions would go a long way in transforming the zone.
According to him, it is high time the South East Governors began to harness the potentials inherent in the youths who were abandoned, jettisoned and rusticated by those selected to protect them, instead of using them as ballot box snatchers and thuggery during election.
He maintained that the idea would serve as a good narrative geared towards uplifting their social and economic standards, expressing optimism that once the Governors adopt it, every form of youth restiveness within the zone would be curbed having lost billions previously due to incessant agitations.
Senator Anyanwu therefore appealed to all youth bodies within the South East zone to always make themselves available to be genuinely harnessed by Governors of their zone with a view to building a stronger political and economic stability.
He further called on South East Governors to come together with a singular vision to improve the welfare of their people and the zone, also told them to agree on a collective monthly subvention to be paid to the youth bodies to enable them function effectively and optimally.
While advising the youths against violence and any act capable of tarnishing their reputations, urged them to remain good ambassadors of the zone with the needed potentials to transforming the society rather than singing praises for politicians.
