OWERRI PEOPLE’S ASSEMBLY (UK) URGE ALL THE POLITICAL PARTIES TO CHOOSE CREDIBLE BUT ELECTABLE GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATES FROM OWERRI ZONE   

                       

Owerri People’s Assembly (OPA) UK is irked by the number of candidates from Owerri Senatorial Zone jostling to become the governor of Imo state in 2015. We know that political aspiration is the right of every individual but the ‘do or die’ attitude of some of the governorship aspirants in the state is questionable and should be condemned.

 

In this particular contest, common sense should guide all the candidates. We therefore appeal to all the Aspirants from the Zone to re-visit their respective aspirations sincerely to see whether they stand any chance of securing their own vote let alone any other delegate’s vote.

 

We appreciate the efforts of all the aspirants but we expect that by now some of them would have gallantly withdrawn in the interest of the zone and to avoid all the unnecessary rancour that are gradually but steadily building-up in the zone and in the state.

 

The number of candidates as at the last count is over 20 and more candidates are on the verge of joining the governorship race. The truth is that some of these candidates cannot even vote for themselves in any credible election let alone be voted for, by other people.

 

And the body language of some of the aspirants shows clearly that they are sponsored by faceless individuals and groups working to truncate the rightful demand of Owerri Senatorial Zone. These spoilers know themselves and their assignment is to put spanners on the hard work of the good people of Owerri Zone and their numerous supporters thereby rubbishing the ‘Imo Equity’.

 

Owerri People’s Assembly (UK) therefore wish to appeal to all the candidates to put the zone first and foremost before their personal ambition. We urge each and every-one of them to lock-up their ego in the closets and come together without delay and in harmony and present a consensus but electable and credible governorship candidate to the Imo electorate. 

 

We understand the fact that candidates are sponsored and presented by the political parties. We members of Owerri People’s Assembly (UK) here again re-state our commitment to support all credible governorship candidates from Owerri Senatorial Zone irrespective of their political platform to ensure victory.

 

Finally and very important too; we wholeheartedly thank our brothers and sisters from Orlu and Okigwe zones for all the support for ‘Equity and Fairness’ to prevail in the state.
