LP TOTALLY REJECTS COOKED UP RESULTS OF HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS OF IMO STATE

*UZODIMMA APC PUSHING IMO STATE INTO ANARCHY.*

The governorship and house of assembly elections which were held  across the 36 states of the federation on Saturday the 18/03/2023, once again openly showed that the ruling APC governments and institutions of state which they control, especially INEC and security agencies, are hellbent on destroying our hard earned democracy.

Following the disastrous sham and shame of a nation they called presidential election, patriotic Nigerians had thought and believed INEC and the APC governments will use last Saturday election to redeem whatever meagre image they had left but, as some pessimists and cynic had warned we can now see that truly they have no image, not to talk of its protection.

For the second time in a row it was a shocked, embarrassed and crestfallen world that watched as what the electorate had thought would be a free, fair transparent and credible polls were turned  to another electoral banditry, terrorism and unrestrained subversion of the free electoral will of the electorate  by the ruling All progressives congress.

Last weekend electoral heist was characterised by massive vote buying in both naira and dollars, intimidation and brutality, ballot box and BIVAS snatching, disruption of PU results transmission, abduction of electoral officials and forcing them to rewrite results, fraudulent manipulations, alterations and cooking up of outlandish figures, as well as outright killings.

The killing of Nigeria youths in Ngor okpala and Njaba Local Government Areas, allegedly by government backed militia groups more than anything else,  proves beyond all reasonable doubt that the APC is a marauding blood thirsty organization that is prepared to do anything, including spilling of Nigerians blood to hold onto power in perpetuity.

This is really a deeply worrying political ideology and reality which is making majority of Nigerians regret ever voting the party into power in 2015, given that within the eight years its being in power, it has not only destroyed the modest milage achieved in the democratization process, but rather sadly, returned the country to the dark days of jungle democracy which mirrors the Hobbesian state of nature.

In Imo State here the government of Gov Hope Uzodinma did not in any way pretend about playing according to the rules and regulations guiding election in the country last Saturday, its singular objective on that day was to grab victory by every means, and that was what we witnessed across the twenty seven state constituencies.

Naturally, blinded by the desperation to win by hook or crook they like all pilferers left gaping loopholes in their trails as was seen in the farcical drama at Orsu and the tragicomedy in Ideato North which completely exposed their “grab grab” mentality.

As widely expected our party the Labour party, which by every yardstick is the party of choice across the country and particularly in the state, was predicted to be the favourite to win majority of the seats being contested for, and as authentic results on form EC8A and iREV have shown that was what happened.

But, regrettably between various ward and local government collation centres our deserved victories were snatched with assortments of weapons in all the local governments we were having clear  lead like Owerri Municipal, Obowo, Owerri North, Oru East and Ideato South, just to mention a few.

We have painstakingly, critically and extensively investigated, studied  and analysed last Saturday’s heist called election and inevitably come to the conclusion that the elaborate hijacking of our party’s victory could have been the motive behind  the recent invasion and the attempted hijack of the party SWC, as those who plotted and executed it may have done that to enthrone a system that will oblige them with conspiratorial silence in serious matters as this present one.

It’s noteworthy that despite that politically induced crisis in the party  few days before this election, Labour Party  candidates campaigned vigorously to the admiration of all and succeeded in earning the acceptance of Imolites.

It’s that glaring mass appeal heading into this poll that, has enamoured and emboldened us to say without equivocation that, the Saturday election did not in the least represent the will of imo people.

Consequently, we want to inform all members of great party, obidients , the good people of Imo State, Nigerians and the democratic world that *Imo Labour is declaring  total rejection of Saturday’s election purported results.*

We also wish to put on record our firm determination and resolve to use every available legal means to retrieve the mandates, which the electorate of Imo State gave our candidates but, which were mindlessly hijacked by the very desperate government reigning in the state presently.

There is no gainsaying that the state institutions like the INEC and security agencies have shown themselves as active and willing collaborators in the effort by the ruling APC to derail and crash this democracy.

They should refrain from that odious, condemnable and unpatriotic mission as they would not escape karma and the consequences of  the destruction of this democracy.

Signed: *Comrade Alvan A Opara*.
