OneVoice Women Movement hails Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo, especially the Ime-Obi Ohanaeze for nipping in the bud, the news that the forthcoming Ohanaeze election has been hijacked by thoughtless, opportunistic, and self-serving politicians. We categorically believe that elected Nigeria politicians should hands off Ohanaeze Ndigbo due to conflict of interest. We want Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo that is independent and capable of representing both Igbo politicians and the ordinary man and woman in the affairs of Ndi-Igbo.

As it is the turn of the people of Imo state to lead Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo, Ime-Obi’s initiative to step in, has to a great extent restored the faith and confidence of Ndi-Igbo in Ohanaeze. We, OneVoice Women Movement now look forward to the Ohanaeze Electoral Committee stepping forward to conduct a credible, fair, and acceptable election for Ohanaeze in January 2021.

As we all know, politicians come and go but Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo and the Igbo Nation will live on. We, therefore, appeal to all the Presidential Aspirants to conduct themselves in a fair manner and campaign with dignity. And we call also on the Ohanaeze Electoral Committee to adhere strictly to the letters of the Ohanaeze constitution and follow due process in overseeing the forthcoming election.

OneVoice Women Movement in Diaspora and at Home, therefore, urge the Ime Obi Ohanaeze and other leaders in Igboland to see the election as a very important step Ohanaeze is taking to restore our beloved motherland to its former glory, where love and not money binds us together.

We, therefore, appeal to Ohanaeze Ndi-Igbo to elect a person with high moral standards who will courageously represent us (Ndi-Igbo) at all levels without fear or favour.
