A Worthy Tribute To A Fallen Igbo Hero and Champion.

It’s with immense and deepest sense of shock and disbelief that Ohanaeze Ndigbo Uk received the sad news of the death of our beloved and one of the Igbo greats, Ikenga Nnewi, Ex-President General Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide Chief, Dr. Dozie Ikedife. This is a mournful moment to Nation.

This is indeed the end of a great era!! The departure of the Igbo Proverbial Iroko. The quintessential Igbo leader extra-ordinary is gone to the great beyond; blessed Ikenga Nnewi in whom the Igbo vision reverberated for decades has been called by our divine maker to a divine glory.

Chief, Dr. Dozie Ikedife was my life hero ‘ a leader who is focused, exemplary, patriotic, innovative, fearless and truly inspiring and selfless. His devotion to Igbo cause was revolutionary and totalitarian. He was an unwavering leader with unprecedented profound professional leadership prowess.

He became a formidable and foremost consultant Gynaecologist in a golden era and utilized his foremost education, academic impetus for the betterment of ndigbo.

The late Ikenga Nnewi, Chief Dozie Ikedife was an Igbo colossus in divergent dimensions. His excellence, devotion, commitment and dedication to Igbo leadership and medical professionalism are worthy of emulation.

I feel a personal loss by the death of Chief, Dr. Dozie Ikedife, former President General Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide. He was my Lecturer in the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nnewi Campus. He established an annual award known as ‘ Dozie Ikedife Gold Medal for Best Graduating Doctor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University. I, Dr. Nnanna E. Igwe, was the very first winner and recipient of the ‘ Prestigious Award of Dozie Ikedife Golden Medal of Unizik. This award has inspired many medical students to academic success and excellence.

Dr. Dozie Ikedife has become a watershed in Igbo and Nigerian socio-political landscape and his departure will create a palpable vacuum.

His numerous achievements and positive accomplishments shall enshrine the sands of time, I salute you Ikenga Nnewi for your selfless service to Ndigbo in your great life.

On behalf of myself, my family and Ohanaeze Ndigbo Uk I would like to express our sincerest condolences to the family, Nnewi Local Government, Anambra State, Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide.

May the almighty God give the late Ikenga Nnewi gentle soul eternal rest in heaven and grant the family and Ndigbo, in general, the fortitude to bear this great loss.

Adieu, Chief, Dr. Dozie Ikedife, rest in perfect peace in glory.
