Ebonyi people in the Diaspora under the auspices of Ebonyi World have endorsed His Excellency, Engineer Dave Umahi, the winning PDP gubernatorial candidate for Ebonyi State, Nigeria. Dave Umahi encapsulates everything Ebonyians need at this critical moment to bolster the state including the diversification of the economy through increased investment in Agriculture.

Agriculture is the main occupation of the people of Ebonyi State which has benefitted somewhat from PDP’s concerted efforts to reduce Nigeria’s food imports by about forty percent and increased its local production of rice, cassava, sorghum, cotton and cocoa in percentages ranging from 25 to 56 in the last two years.

For the first time since independence, the Nigerian agricultural sector is attracting unprecedented Foreign Direct Investment. Over the past two years, the sector has attracted $ 4 billion in private sector executed letters of commitment to invest in agricultural value chains, from food crops, to export crops, fisheries and livestock.

The number of private sector seed companies grew from 10 to 70 within one year. Over $7 billion of investments from Nigerian businesses have been made to develop new fertilizer manufacturing plants, which will make Nigeria the largest producer and exporter of fertilizers in Africa. It is also noteworthy that agricultural lending as a share of total bank lending has risen from two percent to six percent in two years.

Ebonyi World has immense confidence in Dave Umahi to continue the ongoing revolution of the Agricultural sector and stimulate and encourage micro, small and medium industries and also big industries which will create jobs and improve on agriculture in the state.

H E Dave Umahi is also committed to further improve the state education system so that it is on par with other developed countries. We believe Dave Umahi will task the Ministry of Education of the state to raise the education bar including improving quality and standards.

Ebonyi World believes H E Dave Umahi is committed to improving the healthcare management and policy systems including addressing the improvement of maternal and child healthcare programmes, and programmes that address early detection of cardiovascular disease, and prevention of infectious diseases.
